#009 - Heather Ellis
In this episode I talk with Heather Ellis about her solo overland adventure through Africa on her Yamaha TT600 in the early 90’s. Heather’s inspiring story takes us on an adventure we’re not likely to forget in a hurry. Her inspirational story starts in the Australian outback with a light-bulb moment: she is going to ride a motorcycle across Africa. Her story has twists and turns like the roads she rides.
We discuss spirituality and the importance of the mental journey she went on and why it took her nearly 20 years to write her book - Ubuntu: One Woman's Motorcycle Odyssey Across Africa.
The core meaning of Ubuntu is one that most overlanders can probably relate to - 'I am because we are' - the universal bond that connects all of humanity as one.
